Course of filtration using the chamber filter press


  • Shortening of the filtration cycle compared to common types of filter presses – significantly accelerated shifting of plates, removing of the filtration cake and repeated closing of the filter press.
  • Low operating costs thanks to a fully automatic operating mode with minimum demands on the operator's presence.
  • Smaller dimensions and weight of the filter press given the same performance, compared to the manual, or semiautomatic filter press design => lower demands on the civil part (size or the area, loading capacity of the floor, size OK

Fields of use:

  • For filtrations when frequent emptying of the filter press is unacceptably demanding for the operators.


The automatic filter press is a mechanical device equipped with components whose suitable combination can result in attendance-free operating mode. Fully automatic filter presses are usually equipped with the following devices:

  • Electrohydraulic generator set
  • Fast shifting of the filtration plates
  • Knocking of plates to enable perfect removal of cake from the cloth
  • Automatically controlled drip trays
  • Automatic controlling and regulating system

The automatic filter press can be equipped with membrane plates. Introduction of these plates may make the process even more efficient for certain kinds of suspensions.

Course of filtration using a fully automatic filter press:

The filtration depends on the type of the filter press as described for the chamber and membrane filter presses. The difference lies in the method of stopping and restating of the filtration cycle:

  • Plate shifting
    plates are shifted by a lift of the hydraulic cylinder during shifting away of the pressure plate. The filtration plates are fixed to it in certain distances and when the hydraulic piston moves, the plates are shifted away.
  • Cake removal
    once the plates are shifted, the cake is mechanically scraped off the surface of the filtration cloth.

The whole process is fully automatic without intervention or attendance of the operator.
