Description of ENVITES lamella sedimentation tank:

This is a tank with a lamella built-in part - set of parallel longitudinal profiles, or tubes that are fitted in the tank under a certain rising angle. The suspension passes through the tubes. The lamella built-in part greatly intensifies the sedimentation separation process. This type of sedimentation tanks is several times more efficient compared to simple sedimentation with a flow-through system. The installation of the lamella blocks can be made in tanks of various shapes – circular as well as rectangular.

Basic parts of the sedimentation tank:

  • Tank (contains a suspension feeding connection point, quiet zone, sedimentation zone, slurry room and clarified water discharge connection point)
  • Supporting frame of the tank with supporting legs
  • Lamella built-in parts
  • Overflow troughs

The lamella sedimentation tanks consist of tanks and lamella built-in parts of a tube type. The tanks are manufactured by welding from steel or plastic materials. The compact shape of the tank is adjusted to the shape of the built-in lamella blocks. The inlet room is visible from the frontal view, the bottom part is characterised by a pyramidal shape of the slurry room. Under the lamella built-in part (types with ascending stream) there are distribution elements, in the upper part over the lamellas the cleaned water flows over the trough with a spillway.

The shape of the lamella sedimentation tanks should be efficiently adapted to the shape of the lamella blocks and the hydraulic conditions, which enables high efficiency of separating the contaminants while the concentration of thickened slurry increases. Efficient distributing of incoming water into the system of parallel inclined tubes provides even loading of the sedimentation tanks in a range of 0.6 - 3 mm/s/m2.

Models with ascending stream
These models are designed to separate suspended slurry particles. Incoming raw water passes through a quiet zone under the lamella built-in parts. Once it leaves the quiet zone, the heaviest particles drop to the bottom and the clarified water rises over lamellas towards the overflow troughs. Further sedimentation of solid particles occurs in the area between the lamellas and these particles subsequently slide along the lamellas to the sludge rooms. From the bottom pyramidal part of the sedimentation tanks, which is adjusted for storage and thickening, the settled sludge can be easily extracted for further thickening and dewatering.

Models with descending stream
these models are designed to separate oils and grease from industrial wastewater. Raw water flows over the lamella built-in part, in a descending stream through the lamella block and then it is extracted by a system of troughs over a surface overflow. Once the stream becomes still, the oils and grease are separated on the surface and fine particles trapped on the lamella built-in parts float to the oil layer and pass to a collection pit via an overflow. During the descending water flow, substances dropping to the slurry room are also separated.
